Hi,
My family lived at 4 Annis Road Hackney until immigrating to the Antipodes, via a series of jumps back and forth initiated in 1952.
My Grand father George had an entire room dedicated to the Gunners, full of Red and white mementos, photos and reproduction trophies etc; his day job was as a Black Cabbie so he was by no means ostentatious though his Gunners room took up half the house LOL and with Democratic family consent.
It was really quite sad day among our family when Highbury was demolished as it and the Lane were the closest (Premier type pitches, the Hackney marshes fields were quite close) pitches to us for many years, and we lost a little bit of our soul when Highbury foundered.
I was hoping, you might have a decent photo of old Highbury for me to use as a desktop on my computer please.
Warmest regards,
Steven Widdicombe.
